Science and Innovation Reception in DC
Since there are so many DC insiders who read this newsletter, what better place to advertise an upcoming launch event as to a new Bipartisan Science and Innovation Caucus? The event will be held on September 14 at the Russell Senate Office Building, and you can RSVP here. Hope to see you there!
Science and innovation are fundamental to our countryʼs economic strength, security, and competitiveness. Jobs in science, technology, engineering, math, and medicine make up 34% of the U.S. workforce. Economic activity from these fields generates 39% of U.S. GDP - over $10 trillion dollars. Senators John Hickenlooper (Colorado) and Dave McCormick (Pennsylvania) are launching the Bipartisan Science and Innovation Caucus in the Senate to highlight American leadership in these fields and build policies that push American innovation forward.
This caucus will highlight and elevate both basic scientific research and the application of those results to promote innovation. Caucus members will work together with industry leaders and the research community to develop policies that promote U.S. leadership in science and innovation, through a combination of briefings, round tables, and forums for discourse about new legislation.
This event officially launches the caucus, with Senators and innovators sharing real-world stories about how local innovation is solving problems in their states and across the country. In addition to an introduction of the caucus and some fun science content, drinks and hors d’oeuvres will be provided.
Hosted by American Policy Ventures, Renaissance Philanthropy, SeedAI, Accelerate Science Now, Bipartisan Policy Center / BPC Action, Institute for Progress, American Association for the Advancement of Science, Federation of American Scientists, and Good Science Project. This is a widely attended event designed to comply with congressional and agency ethics rules.
